Stripes and Such...

I have worn this jacket before, and honestly, it was so trendy the last couple of years, I thought about donating it.  But on days like today, when I was late already, and wanted to combine both comfort and cute, this sure came in handy.  A pencil skirt in a jersey material skims and shapes without being vulgar, while a tunic can de-sexify it just enough to make it appropriate for work.  To complete this outfit and give the illusion that I am actually professional, I threw on this blazer.  The graphic pairing of this blazer and the colorblock tunic made it seem as if I actually put thought into this ensemble.  If only people knew...

Highs and Lows...

The "Hi-Low" Trend is a trend that I have definitely hopped on and am reluctant to leave behind.  I cannot think of a more flattering shape for women.  It has become one of my personal favorites and ASOS satisfies my desire for more and more.
To escape the madness that is Howard University's homecoming, me and The Spouse escaped to one of the local malls to shop the Macy's One-Day Sale, and look for curtains. Exciting, I know.  But with DC teeming with celebrities, and the possibility of a Meek Mill/Two Chainz/Drake/Diddy sighting, I still wanted to look my version of cute and classy.

The most perfect, sequin maxi skirt.  Calvin Klein. Lightweight, flowy, and shimmery, and long on me.  This skirt reminded me why Macy's has become one of the BEST shopping destinations for plus-size clothing.

So I excitedly asked the lady at The Limited about the new in-store Eloquii they had, and this is it! They literally had 3 racks of clothing and a table of jeans and they call this an Eloquii "store". This The Limited store is huge and well-traveled, and they relegate us curvy divas to the back once again and they refuse to equal the offerings.  I'm rethinking my relationship with Eloquii.

Temporary...

Sometimes the urge to wear an accessory, or to wear an item of clothing overwhelms me and I succumb to it.  This outfit was a result of the urge to wear a thrifted outfit, while maintaining the red, black, and green color combination that has become my signature.  It has no rhyme or reason.  I can't even say that I like the results of this ensemble.  But it is what it is.  The next day, I wore something I felt better about.  But fashion is temporary.  So why not take risks.  It really is not that serious...

I wouldn't consider this an outfit post, because this outfit is as nondescript as can be.  A long, black dress, right?  But indicative of so much more.  As I look around me and notice the leaves' changing hue, and the presence of foliage underfoot, I notice that I am also changing.  Changing back to me.  You see, I love Black clothing.  Black clothing soothes me. Black clothing energizes me.  While my outfit posts betray my true love and lust for all things black, it is in Black I feel at ease.  So this isn't an outfit post.  Only a post that shows me at my most comfortable, my sexiest, my most confident.  Draped in black, and ready to transition back to me.  To put away the bold colors, the frivolity, and to return to self. Don't worry, my other "self" is only tucked away awaiting an opportunity to return...

You rarely every see me wear Maxi dresses on this blog.  I am not a fan of Maxi dresses because if it is going to be a maxi, I want it to drag the floor.  But, at 5'8.5", it is almost impossible for me to accomplish this.  I have had luck at both Gap and Old Navy, but that is because they carry tall and long sizes (which usually are too long, but that happens when you are on the "short" side of tall),  But I fell in love with this dress when I saw it on the Eloquii website.  I have another dress that I bought from Eloquii last year, and the material was a thick, seasonless jersey that I love.  So, I thought, why not?  Plus, I thought that this dress can take me through all four seasons we experience here in DC. Yet another score for me as I attempt to be more like my friend, Teriyana, whose wardrobe is seasonless and so weather appropriate at the same time.  I paired this sleeveless dress with this great blazer that has been hiding in the back of my closet for months (never worn) and I felt light and airy AND autumn-ready simultaneously.  Autumn, I await you...
