Spring Trends Part IV… Emerald

So as you know by now, I have been participating in a Spring Trends Challenge with several other bloggers:

Real Girl Runway
Heart, Print, and Style
CurvyCEO
Grown and Curvy WomanSociety of Curves

to showcase our interpretation of four major Spring fashion trends this year.  We tackled, Black and White, Florals, Leather, and Emerald.  I challenged myself even further by adding the stipulation that all of the clothing I wear in these posts must come from my own closet.  Because although I would love to go shopping every season and revamp my closet with what’s new and hot, frankly, my pockets are not built like that!

Here, my interpretation of the Emerald Green trend that is being seen everywhere.  Pantone (?!) decides every year on a color of the year, and for the year 2013, Emerald Green in the winner.  Who is Pantone you asked?  From their website, “the Pantone name is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer.” Whatever that means…

However the color Emerald was chosen, it is and remains one of my favorite color choices.  And if you are a reader of the blog, you know that my favorite color block combination is Red, Black, and Green.  If I could, I would wear that all the time.  Yesterday, I had a jam-packed day.  I was going to catch up with several friends over lunch and I had a business meeting.  I wanted to be comfortable and cute so I decided on this cute, flowy, school marm dress from Asos that remains one of my favorite pieces from them.  Because I love a dress over pants, these pants from Talbots added a nice pop of color and saturated the color combination even more, while the leopard booties kept me from feeling too syrupy sweet and added a needed pop of edge. Topped off with my trusty leopard Motorcycle jacket from Asos, and I might actually dare to say I absolutely love this outfit.  And the color Emerald. Below, my interpretation of the Emerald Green trend, while actually wearing only what was in my closet.

Me and my friends LOVE leopard!

Side note: I am sooooooo glad this Spring Trends challenge is over!  This challenge has taught me a few things about myself and what I wear. Firstly, I do not keep up with trends.  I wear what I like whether it is trendy or not. Secondly, trends are subjective.  And I choose not to wear what people tell me is hot, I like to wear what I like.  I will never participate in a challenge like this again.  Or not anytime soon…
